Thought I shared something I made some time back.
I was reading an article about how to make a DIY dip pen and I thought it was kinda cool.
I got some cheap brush dowels from the nearby art store, a Root Beer Can from a vending machine at work and a template from Popcanpen.com.
Instead of a rounded curved end, I cut an italic tip. I secured the nib to the dowel with clear tape, removed the sponge end and snapped the end off.
Close up view of the tip. |
Testing the pen. |
I thought it would look fancier if I coated the whole wooden body in Oil-Based Timberlac Polyurethane Decorative Wood Varnish by Nippon paint that I found lying around in the store room.
I trimmed the nib width to slightly less than 2mm so it would be easier for me to write.
TADA! The final product! |
Not bad for something that cost around a dollar.
What do you think?
Happy crafting as always.
